Visitors can explore the historic sites of the village, including the ancient burial grounds and Stone Age settlements. For the adventurous visitor, there is also the opportunity to climb the cliffs and explore the caves along the coast. Visit Fjällbacka and experience everything this charming village has to offer

Accommodation options

There are several different accommodation options in Fjällbacka, depending on your budget and your preferences. You can choose between hotels, hostels, cabins, camping, or B6B. One of the most famous hotels is Stora Hotellet Bryggan, which is located by the harbor and has a fantastic view of the archipelago. Here you can enjoy a luxurious breakfast buffet, a good dinner at the restaurant Bryggan Fjällbacka, or a drink on the terrace. Here you can choose between rooms with private or shared bathrooms, and access to a shared kitchen and living room. If you prefer to live in nature, you can rent a cabin or camp at Fjällbacka Camping, which is located by the sea and has its own beach. Hiking in the area

Fjällbacka is a hiker's paradise, as there are many beautiful trails to choose from. One of the most popular is Kungsklyftan, which is a gorge that divides the mountain Vetteberget into two parts. Here you can go through the dramatic gap that has been featured in several films, including Ronja Rövardotter. At the top of Vetteberget you have a fantastic view of Fjällbacka and the archipelago. If you want to visit the Väder Islands, you can take a boat trip from Fjällbacka harbor and experience the unique nature and wildlife there.

If you decided to visit Kungsklyftan. you can read about our visit there. Trip to the "Kungsklyftan". It is relatively close to the center, but quite a steep climb at the start of this tour of about an hour. A little way into the gap you will come to a staircase, where you can get to the top of the mountain. From this position you can follow various marked trails. By following the trail you will eventually return to the center.

But, it's a good idea to start with a walk in the center, where you can easily spend an hour or so strolling among shops, piers and people. You experience, like so many other nearby communities, that it is mixed with old solid and cultural buildings and with newly built houses that fit into the environment. Suggest you go up to the beautiful church, or follow the water and come out to the fishing port. There are of course nice shops and restaurants to visit, from where you can also view all the boats in the harbour.

If you want to go on a longer hike, I suggest you go to Grebbestad to hike the trail between Grebbestad and Tamumshede. It is a tour of 4 hours.

There is very good hiking in the area around Fjällbacka. However, if you want to search outside the area, it is recommended Bohusleden, Kuststigen and the website to Västsverige.com. You can easily find information about them via the buttons below. Swedish Tourist Association, Bohusleden The coastal path

Bathing places

If you want to take a dip in the salty water, there are several swimming spots to choose from in Fjällbacka. One of the most popular is Ingrid Bergman's place, which is a sandy beach located by the harbor. Here you can sunbathe, swim, and enjoy the view of the boats and houses. If you want a more secluded location, you can try Rödhammarsbadet, which is a rock bathing place located a little outside the center. Here you can jump from the rocks or the jetty, and enjoy the clear water. If you want a more child-friendly option, you can go to Valön's bathing area, which is a sandy beach located on the island of Valön.

Another tip is to check out bathing spots via the website badkartan.se

Shops in Fjällbacka

While swimming in Fjällbacka does not appeal to my taste, it is clearly better with shops and shopping in Fjällbacka. There are many shops in such a small area as Fjällbacka's center is anyway. Several well-known clothing brands are represented and it feels like status is important in Fjällbacka, with associated prices. A nice feature is a hat shop, which has a large selection of headwear. Check out that hat shop, located across the street from the bakery. The grocery store to buy your food is a little outside along with the pharmacy, but it's still fine to walk there. It is also not that far to go to Grebbestad and The sports shop if you want more stores to shop in.
